Alpine created the CDA-7949 to be an audiophile quality 12 volt CD player, which would rival most home audio CD players. This deck was made without compromise to produce sound as cleanly and accurately as possible in a 12-volt environment. It's design principals rival those of high end home stereo components (all copper chassis, 1 bit DAC, 8x over sampling etc.) and made this CD player the flagship of Alpine's line up for three years where other units were replaced yearly. This deck with sound quality, upgradeability, durability, integration and control in mind rather than endless features and flashy displays. Alpine's no frills "less is more" design philosophy produced a CD player that performed better than anything else in it's price range and is still hard to surpass in today's market.
