Mahasiswa Institut Tekhnologi Bandung (ITB), kembali mengharumkan nama bangsa dengan robot ciptaannya. Mereka berhasil menciptakan robot pemadam api sekaligus memenangkan kontes robot di Hartford, Connecticut, Amerika Serikat. Sekilas bentuk robot ini terlihat seperti seekor laba-laba, tapi ini bukan robot biasa, robot berkaki enam ini mampu mendeteksi api di dalam ruangan yang berliku tanpa harus dikontrol.

Prinsip kerjanya kalau robot itu mendengar bunyi alarm, maka secara otomatis robot ini akan bergerak mencari api dengan menggunakan berbagai macam sensor yang terpasang. Untuk memadamkan api, hanya menggunakan kipas angin kecil. Untuk pembuatan robotnya, butuh waktu kurang lebih 1 tahun.
