Proyek ini dinamakan N-Prize. Diselenggarakan oleh Ahli biologi Cambridge, Paul Dear. Ia menantang orang-orang yang sangat optimistis dan sangat kreatif, untuk bisa menciptakan satelit dari benda-benda yang tidak terpakai dengan biaya seminimal mungkin.

N-Prize menyediakan dua hadiah masing-masing 9,999.99 atau setara dengan Rp136 juta. Hadiah akan diberikan kepada individu atau kelompok yang dapat membuat satelit yang dapat mengorbit bumi minimal sembilan kali. Tapi satelitnya itu harus berbobot antara 9,99 dan 19,99 gram saja.

Hadiah juga akan diberikan pada orang yang mampu membuat satelit terbuat dari barang bekas. Biaya pembuatannya tidak boleh lebih dari 999,99 atau Rp13,6 juta. Peserta boleh menggunakan bahan berupa benang atau perekat dari permen karet bekas, dsb. Bagaimana caranya?

Situs N-Prize menyebut tantangan ini sebagai 'hampir mustahil'.

Tenggat waktu pembuktiannya adalah pada pukul 19.19.09 pada 19 September 2012 waktu GMT, atau 20 September 2012 pukul 1.20 pagi WIB.
