Pemanggangan yang sebentar membuat warna biji kopi menjadi lebih terang seperti halnya warna kacang. Biji kopi inilah yang disebut sebagai biji kopi �putih�. Biji kopi putih lebih keras dan memiliki rasa yang berbeda dengan kopi biasa.


Rasa Kopi Putih


Biasanya kopi biasa memiliki rasa yang kuat dan pahit. Kopi putih memiliki rasa yang gurih ketika diseduh, yang sangat berbeda dari rasa secangkir kopi biasa.


Rasa gurih akan bertambah ketika kopi diberi bahan-bahan lain sehingga rasanya semakin berbeda dari kopi biasa.


Keuntungan Kopi Putih


Semakin lama biji kopi dipanggang akan semakin banyak kafein yang terbakar. Karena hanya dipanggang sebentar, kopi putih mengandung kafein lebih banyak, sehingga sangat ideal bagi mereka yang menginginkan dosis ektra kafein.


Kopi putih bisa juga dinikmati oleh orang yang bukan peminum kopi karena rasanya yang gurih mungkin lebih cocok daripada kopi yang biasanya memiliki rasa pahit.


Peringatan


Karena dipanggang dalam waktu tidak terlalu lama, biji kopi putih umumnya akan lebih keras daripada biji kopi yang dipanggang penuh.


Oleh karena itu, biji kopi putih memerlukan penggiling khusus karena dapat mematahkan alat penggiling biasa.


Kesalahpahaman


Kopi putih bukanlah kopi biasa yang diberi pemutih, seperti krim, susu, atau campuran antara krim dan susu sehingga berwarna putih. Kopi putih dihasilkan dari biji kopi yang dipanggang tidak terlalu lama.


Kopi putih juga dapat merujuk pada kopi putih Ipoh, kopi gaya Malaysia dimana biji kopi dipanggang dengan margarin, sehingga memiliki warna yang lebih terang dibandingkan dengan kopi hitam tradisional Malaysia yang dipanggag dengan karamel, margarin, dan gandum atau oat halus.
