The final process of selecting entries from the national �Designs for Australia�s cities 2050+� competition has taken place. The announced entries will be exhibited in the Australian Pavilion at this year�s Venice Biennale. Out of the 24 shortlisted proposals selected from 129 competition submissions, a total of 17 have been finalized. These proposal that will be presented at the �NOW+ WHEN Australian Urbanism� show are visions of Australia, depicting cities 40+ years in the future.



The �NOW+ WHEN Australian Urbanism� will be exhibited on 3D for screening in the Australian Pavilion. The �NOW� element will highlight six of Australia�s most interesting urban and anti-urban regions as they are, before dramatically representing the recently selected, futuristic urban environments from the competition imagining �WHEN� we reach 2050 and beyond. The proposals range in suggestion from new cities housing between 50,000-100,000 people in current desert areas to address Australia�s expected population growth to the construction of cities in which urban development is concentrated in �peripheral� areas.



One entry has proposed the �Ocean City�, an underwater city, syph, spawned from the rising interest in biomimetic practices and materials in the advent of climate change. �The Fear Free City�, is a suggestion of a future city that is free from the fear of crime and antisocial behavior.

Proses akhir memilih kompetisi Desain nasional 'untuk kota-kota di Australia pada tahun 2050+ telah ditentukan. Gambaran ini akan akan dipamerkan di Paviliun Australia di Venice Biennale tahun ini.
