Barcelona, Spanyol - Intel yang mendominasi pasar prosesor PC mulai gencar memperluas pasar di arena perangkat mobile. Tahun ini saja, akan hadir tiga smartphone baru yang mengusung chip Intel.

Smartphone tersebut akan dirilis oleh operator telekomunikasi asal Prancis Orange, Lava International dan ZTE. Pada perhelatan Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012, CEO Intel Paul Otellini mengatakan, akan ada lebih banyak smartphone dengan 'otak' Intel dirilis tahun depan. Demikian seperti dilansir Sydney Morning Herald, Rabu (29/2/2012)

"Ini adalah sesuatu yang kami lakukan perlahan namun pasti," kata Otelini seraya menyebutkan tiga smartphone berbasis chip Intel terbaru yang akan dirilis merupakan kabar gembira baginya.

Analis dari Moor Insight & Strategy, Patrick Moorhead menilai pengumuman ini mengindikasikan kemajuan Intel yang sangat kuat di pasar smartphone. "Intel bisa lebih berprestasi di pasar smartphone tahun depan dengan merilis chip yang lebih canggih namun irit daya," ujarnya.
